Matilda (also known as Tillie) was Peter and Anna Lundberg's 1st child. She was born Dec 3, 1874 in Afton, Minnesota. She married Albert James Eddington the Nov 10, 1903 at age 28. She was the first Lundberg daughter to marry. Emmaline and Lizzie had both recently died and Anna would die three years later. There seemed to be a trait of late marriages for the Lundberg girls. Edith was 32 when she married. Perhaps the family circumstances did not lend themselves to early courtship. Ten months later Matilda and Albert had their first daughter, Thelma Lucille. In researching her family, Virginia always thought that her Aunt Matilda had died childless. However birth records were recently found for two daughters. Thelma was born in Minneapolis and six years later Genevieve was born in Pierce County, Washington State.
When Genevieve was two and a half years old Matilda died on Jan 24, 1912 of tuberculosis just like all her sisters and mother before her. In 1914, Albert remarried a second Matilda, Matilda Seyfferth. By 1916 the family had moved back to Minnesota. According to Thelma's daughter, for some reason Genevieve was given up for adoption to family friends in Washington. Perhaps this took place upon Albert's second marriage. Hopefully a picture can be found of Albert and Matilda and their family. If any visitors to this blog know of one in existence, please contact the blog administrator, email at the top.
